Quick tip: Lemon water

There are many health benefits to starting your day with lemon water, and it's really simple thing to introduce into your routine.


Ideally you'd drink it 15 to 30 minutes before you eat breakfast, but it's worth having even if you can't leave a gap.


We like to warm it up - squeeze lemon into a mug, add cold water and then top up with hot water (just off the boil). It's important not to pour boiling water straight in, as lemons are heat sensitive and you'll destroy the nutrients.


What are the health benefits?

It doesn't just help you hydrate after a night's sleep, there are a number of benefits you can chalk yourself up, if you start drinking it regularly:


Gives your immune system a boost

Lemons are packed with nutrients including vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium and fibre. The vitamin C in lemons can help alleviate stress and fight viral infections and sore throats.

Drinking lemon water regularly removes uric acid from joints, enhances enzyme function and stimulates your liver to help flush out fat soluble toxins.

Lemons contain pectin fibre, which assists in fighting hunger cravings.
