Quick tip: Reducing travel tension

Did you know that when you are sat in a position with your head forward and out of alignment with gravity (typically when driving or looking at your screen on public transport), you automatically trigger a stress response in your body commonly known as fight or flight.

To switch this response off and return your body to ‘rest mode’ you need to feel the back of your head sink into the headrest behind you.

When you push your head back into the head rest, really feel your sit bones being pulled down into the seat underneath you and your spine lifting and lengthening.

You should notice that once you've corrected this alignment, your breath will deepen and slow.
