Square breathing technique

If you are looking for a way to calm the intensity of your stress/anxious feelings immediately, we think Square Breathing is a great tool to have in your armoury.


You can do it anywhere and anytime. Here's how:


  1. Focus your gaze on something square nearby e.g. a window, picture frame or screen

  2. Start by looking at the bottom left hand corner. As you breathe in, count to four and trace your eyes up to the top left hand corner.

  3. Hold your breath and count to 4 as you trace your eyes along to the top right corner.

  4. As you breathe out, trace your eyes down to the the bottom right corner, again counting to 4.

  5. Hold for 4 seconds as you move back to the bottom left corner again.


It may take a few mins to calm your breathing, so keep repeating the process until it happens.
